8th Grade Counseling
Dear Parents & Students:
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am your 8th Grade Professional School Counselor, Ms. Michelle Burger. Prior to joining Lilburn Middle School last year, I worked for six (6) years at the high school level. Before that I worked with 8th grade students for five (5) years at Trickum Middle School.
My prior high school experience makes me uniquely qualified to assist 8th graders as they prepare to transition to high school. Specifically, I assist students individually in the areas of academics, behavior, building relationships, time management and organization, as well as goal setting and decision-making. I also provide classroom guidance lessons and skills throughout the year on the following topics:
- Preparing for college and careers
- Developing four-year graduation plans
- Organization and Time Management
- Leadership Skills (8th Grade Peer Leadership group)
- Solution-Focused Communication
- Conflict Resolution Skills/Bullying Prevention
Our counseling department also offers a wide variety of services to parents and students. Those students in need can have access to ongoing clinical counseling through our list of resources and services. Detailed information regarding those resources and services is located on the LMS Counseling Program Services Resources page.
I look forward to continue collaborating with and assisting students as they strive to achieve the greatness within!
Best Regards,
Michelle Burger, M.Ed.
